Microsoft and Dean Cain -- Your grade is F

I saw this news come across my feed the other morning but just got around to checking it out. Jesus, do I wish I hadn't. A new low. First of all, the subtext of the spot is that the husband is looking at disgusting porn at the breakfast table. Er, ok. And second, the wife vomits. Repeatedly. Then, if that ain't enough, he slips in the vomit. And how does this disaster end? Dean fucking Cain shows up. This is a huge bowlful of ass. Looks like they've (mercifully) taken it down. Woof guys.

This is quite possibly the most disturbing viral video I have seen.can I nominate the option of promoting it to an F-?

It was also directed by Bob Goldthwait.

What the hell, how did this even get on, did client even see it? must be a spoof ad

Naw, no spoof. I saw the other ones and they're just as bad. On a meta level the spots reflect the brand perfectly:

A basic idea executed terribly.

Microsoft's recent promotional efforts, which have generated significant buzz, have me rethinking my long-held belief that no publicity is bad publicity in the long run.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse... Microsoft throws up all over itself. Literally.

As bad as the ad is, though... pulling it so quickly was worse (just as it was for the Seinfeld ads and the Bing Manifesto), as if you can really pull anything from the net.

Make a decision and stick to it, folks.
