What I thought once would be a trendy fad of meeting Friday mornings for coffee and conversation has turned into a weekly staple. So much so that I don't feel like AC is the correct forum for such announcements of where we're going to meet during said week (I'm sure all of you non-KCers and non-socialites would agree). Therefore, we've created a Facebook group to do our heavy lifting.
We're planning to journey a little south of our typical Crossroads meeting place to You Say Tomato this Friday. Join us for coffee, breakfast and conversation starting at 7:30. See you then.
Sorry for the later than usual post. It's been a busy week.
We'll be at Mildred's tomorrow morning. 7:30. Breakfast sandwiches.
One of the things we enjoy at Coffee Morning, besides coffee, is playing host to students. Tomorrow will be one of those days. The University of Arkansas Ad Club will be making its way to Kansas City for some agency tours and will also be on hand for some coffee and chats. If you're up to it, come on down to JP Wine Bar for a warm beverage and some excellent conversations. We'll be there starting at 7:30.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no "calling of the Hogs," barefoot hillbillies, or boyfriend/girlfriends that are siblings. That means you, too, Andrew.
Before the man hides the eggs
He has to rest his little legs
He sits and drinks a cup, or two
And maybe reads a mag called Who
He'd prefer to sit and chat with friends
To learn about the fads and trends
He'll want to know about our biz a bit
Or probably just to talk the shit
In any case he'll never lie
So come out Friday to have coffee with this guy ----------->
We'll be at Magazines and Coffee this Good Friday for the usual coffee, pastries and nonsense talk. Please join us if you're not too sleepy and want a jolt before work (or a day off). We'll be there at 7:30.
In case you didn't get the memo, the Vatican has added 7 additional Deadly Sins. None of which involve drinking coffee, waking up before 7:00 on a Friday, eating breakfast sandwiches or meeting with likeminded people for a rousing conversation about weekly happenings.
They do, however, frown upon:
Genetic modification
Carrying out experiments on humans
Polluting the environment
Causing social injustice
Causing poverty
Becoming obscenely wealthy
Taking drugs
Since we won't cause social injustice or poverty, we'll be back at Mildred's in the Crossroads this Friday. See you at 7:30.

Apparently, we're not getting enough sleep. In honor of National Sleep Awareness Week (March 3-9) the CDC released figures that prove more people are sleep deprived now than they were a decade ago. There are some interesting differences in sleep habits. For instance, Hawaiians sleep best and education decreases the rate at which people get reasonable amounts of shut-eye:
"Those without a high school diploma were about as rested as Hawaiians, while people who started or completed college education reported at least one restless night over 75 percent of the time."
"63 percent state they are very likely to just accept their sleepiness and keep going, while 32 percent are very likely to use caffeinated beverages when they are sleepy during the day and more than half (54%) are at least somewhat likely to use their weekends to try to catch up on sleep."
So, if you live in a tropical climate or didn't attend college, chances are you're sleeping better than the rest of us. Having coffee morning at 7:30 probably isn't helping America's sleep deprivation problem. Maybe we should all head to bed a few hours early tomorrow night in honor of NSAW.
If your a part of the 32 percent that are likely to perk up with a caffeinated beverage, join us at JP Wine Bar this Friday at 7:30. Get some rest. See you there.
I know that most of us here in Kansas City are pretty tired of winter this year. To make things worse, the entire Kansas City Royals baseball club are down in Surprise, Arizona for spring training. That means two things to me. First that spring is nearing and, two, there's about to be a lot of boring sports on TV (sorry baseball fans, I'm an advocate of watching it live rather than on the tube).
So if the Royals are training for the spring, so should we. This week's Coffee Morning will be at Mildred's in the Crossroads. I'm not exactly sure how being there will train us for anything in particular, but it's the thought that counts. Right?
See you at 7:30.
It's cold in KC. Real, real cold. Let's warm up this Friday morning with a warm morning beverage and conversation.
Big thanks to everyone that joined us last Friday at JP Wine Bar for likemind. We had a great turnout. It was great to see everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone this week at Mildred's starting, as always, at the frigid time of 7:30.
Always searching for a new place to drink coffee and talk about nothing, we decided to expand our horizons from our usual meet-up places.
This Friday we'll be breaking in a potential new coffee hot spot in Downtown Kansas City. We're going to meet at Perk Up! (1103 Grand) to have coffee and some tasty pastry deliciousnesses. Also on the agenda will be this year's crop of Superbowl Ads, so come tell us what you thought about those horrid Sales Genie spots.
See you on Friday at 7:30.
We'll be back at Mildred's on Friday starting at 7:30 for warm morning beverages and conversation. Hope to see you there.
I saw this sign on Russell's blog and thought I should share. I agree with him. This sign could come in handy for many presentations.
Also, I'm sure there are a few words on the sign that explain the kind of week some of us are having. Blurred is a good word to explain mine. Myself and others will welcome a morning beverage and conversation this Friday. We'll be at Mildred's this week at our normal 7:30 start time. Hope to see you there. I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about.
We'll be at JP Wine Bar on Friday starting at 7:30 for the second KC likemind . If you were able to join us for the November likemind, you probably remember the nametags, buttons and the first $25 of coffee that was kindly provided by Anomly. We'll have all that stuff this time too (sorry, Likemind wasn't able to secure the funds in time this month). And, just like the many other likemind events around the world, we'll have a global question to discuss.
Additionally, our old friend the Brazilian Art Director will be attempting to start up a Coffee Morning / Likemind deal in Chicago. That group will start at 8:00, NOT 7:30, and will be at Intelligentsia (55 E Randolph St, off of Wabash, in the Loop). If you're in Chicago, this will be the place to be at 8:00... or maybe stuck in traffic or on the L.
See you Friday.
Last week, we made a barely-announced return to Coffee Morning for the new year. It was too late to post here, so we only sent out a text message. We apologize for any of you that were unaware of the late invitation. In any sorts, maybe karma worked against us since no one was at Magazines and Coffee to greet us when we arrived.
No worries. We'll give it another shot this Friday, at 7:30. It should be a good time and I know we all have some good stories to tell from the holidays. But if you're anything like me, I barely remember what happened three days ago. The good thing, I've got a great imagination and can make stuff up on the fly. You'll see.
Hope to see you on Friday.
Where in the hell did 2007 go? The last time I checked, it was July and I was fawning over the Transformers movie. Sheesh. Anyways, this Friday will be the final Coffee Morning of 2007. If you'd like to come by and enjoy a coffee and a kick ass egg sandwich, we'll be down at Mildred's starting around 7:30.
Even if you're not working on Friday, or if you're a student in town for the holidays, please stop by and hang out. If you know anything about us, we'll probably be talking about the usual nonsense -- which lately has been about why certain coffee shops DON'T open at the time they say they will. Sigh.
If we don't see you, have a great holiday season. We'll see you in 2008 and we'll start to hit up some new spots around downtown KC.
We're trying out a new venue this week. We'll be at the "art gallery where you can get a cup of coffee," Pi & Coffee (419 East 18th Street) tomorrow morning.
According to a recent article from The Pitch:
"Most art galleries need an alternate source of income to keep running — the Dolphin, for example, runs a framing business. But the Pi’s new business model is more fun."
We can get a morning cup and view works by artists such as Celia Butler, John Davis Carroll, Maria Creyts, and many more. Also, PI and Coffee is the home of Missouri's first art-o-matic vending machine. For $5 you can pull a knob and become an art collector. Collecting art has never been so easy!
What, oh what, would we do on Friday mornings if we didn't hang out and drink coffee? Sleep maybe? Work out? Watch the same 10 clips on ESPN about 32 times? Who really knows. One thing is for sure, though. When we go have Coffee Morning on Fridays, we make coffee happy. It's true. Check out this happy cup of coffee as evidence.
This Friday, we'll be making all sorts of coffee happy at Mildred's. It starts at 7:30, which means you only have to watch the same 10 clips on ESPN around 12 times.
Coffee Morning started because of one simple truth: Drinking coffee with likeminded people is fun. This is the essence of coffee mornings all over the world. From Kansas City to Beijing, Portland to Copenhagen. AC has been given the opportunity to join a global conversation and share a common cup with other morning coffee drinkers through likemind, a global coffee morning hub.
On the last Friday of each month, coffee morning will be a bit different. We have cool little buttons to hand out, name tags--we may not need them, but they're nice to have in case a college ad club shows up--and a global question to think about in between ad gossip and reactions to the latest episode of Heroes.
The first ever KC likemind will be at JP Wine Bar. As always, we'll start at 7:30am. After perusing other coffee morning start times from all over the world, I think KC is the earliest. I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of or not.
Another likemind perk, Anomaly will pick up the first $25 of morning beverages during likemind events. After the $25 is gone, we go dutch. If you get there early enough, just ask to put your cup on Andrew's tab.
If you're not in KC, check out likemind.us to see if there's a coffee morning near you. If not, think about starting one yourself. No matter where you are, I'm sure there are at least a few likeminded people to share a cup of coffee and conversation with.
For those in KC, we hope to see you this Friday!
Resume...check
Portfolio...check
Nice pants...check
Desire to succeed...double check
If you happen to be in KC tomorrow to learn about ways to land an ad job, why not stop by Coffee Morning at Mildred's for a hot morning beverage and conversation? This week, we welcome any of those attending the KC Ad Club Career Day. Whether you're planning the event, speaking or attending to gather useful information about landing your first ad job, feel free to stop by, say hello and hear what random topics we're talking about this week.
It's finally starting to get cold in the mornings here in Kansas City -- which means that most people would rather sleep in a little bit longer than get up to go talk about nothing with us. That's why we're going to try something different soon. But this week, we're welcoming the K-State Ad Club for coffee and a big helping of "talking about nothing." It should be fun. We'll be at JP Wine Bar starting at 7:30 this Friday morning.
Bring your power towel!
It's normal to hear someone mention the need for coffee in the morning to function. But, I'm pretty sure no one has ever said, "don't talk to me before I read my magazine," in the morning. It just doesn't make sense... at least, to me, it doesn't. But maybe if said person was reading Primavera magazine, it would be a different story. Or maybe not.
To put that theory to test, we'll be at Magazines and Coffee this Friday at 7:30. Don't miss out this week, as it could be the last Coffee Morning for a while. Instead, be on the lookout for Beer Afternoons -- coming to a Crossroads bar near you. For real.
No, really.
Coffee Morning will be at Mildred's this Friday starting at 7:30. See you there.
The last time we hosted Coffee Morning at Magazines and Coffee I remember the sun shining brightly from the east. Very, very brightly. The conversation was great, the coffee tasty and the pastries delish.
It's been a while so we'll be back at Magazines and Coffee to watch the sun rise and enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry this Friday at 7:30. All the AC readers at Barkley have no excuse to miss this Friday morning. We'll be in your building! Stop by for a cup and conversation or a quick hello.
If you happen to be awake, please join us for Coffee Morning at Mildred's beginning at 7:30 tomorrow.
Last week while sipping coffee and watching Seth eat his breakfast sandwich, we had a very interesting conversation with a local photographer about reaching the next generation of copywriters and art directors.
The main topic at coffee morning became how interactions with young creatives are changing how relationships are built in the agency world. According to the photographer, not as many creatives attend portfolio showings anymore. The creatives he does interact with tend to be older Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, not twenty-something Generation Y (aka Millennials). It's becoming more challenging to get in front of potential agency clients.
So, I know there are other young guns ACers out there besides myself. With the photographer's concern in mind, when you receive an assignment that requires the use of a photographer, a production company, etc, where do you go for information? Is the photographer wrong to think that young creatives aren't as interested in viewing his portfolio? Even if you haven't been put in the position where you have to recommend a photographer, there's a good chance you might be someday. When the day comes, how will you decide what photographer to use?
By the way, coffee morning will be at JP Wine Bar Friday morning at 7:30. Thanks to everyone that came last week. The conversation was fun and interesting, as usual. We look forward to seeing more ACers this week.
This picture of a Dick Vitale alarm clock caught my eye the other day on flickr. I wonder if the alarm tone is "Rise and shine baby!"
Speaking of Dick Vitale alarm clocks, we'll be back at Mildred's on Friday for Coffee Morning beginning at 7:30. Hitting snooze just one more time is always satisfying, but try your hardest to avoid the temptation. The coffee, conversation and breakfast sandwiches are always worth it.
The coffee morning crew have returned to their home coffee station of Mildred's (at 7:30 on Friday) in an attempt to rescue their social life from the clutches of the vile Advertising World.
Little do they know that the Empire of Bad Ads has secretly begun construction on a new pointless campaign even more powerful than the first dreaded World's Worst Commercial.
When completed, this ultimate weapon will spell certain doom for the small band of socialites struggling to restore ad freedom to the galaxy....
My arm is sore. I feel like I've been working on the railroad, all the live-long day. But I haven't -- it's because of all the darn coffee we've been drinking on Friday mornings. Thanks to Labor day, we're going to give our arms a rest this week. So pack up and head out of town for the last holiday until Thanksgiving. We'll be back next week with good stories to tell, I hope.
In the meantime, enjoy your Labor day and this awesome commercial from the 80s:
Kansas Citians love flamboyant musicians who could've been a member of the round table. That was evident last week when tickets for Elton John's upcoming show in KC sold out in 90 minutes. Sir Elton John will be playing at the nearly completed Sprint Center, which is just a few blocks away from JP Wine Bar.
Speaking of JP Wine Bar, and for those of us who didn't get tickets, let's gather there this Friday for Coffee Morning. We can pretend that we're getting a good jump on the day of the concert -- which is something like 56 days away.
We'll be there at 7:30, drinking coffee and reciting tales about slaying dragons and rescuing damsels in distress. Bring a friend, bring a colleague, bring an enemy. It's all good. See you there.
This Friday starting at 7:30, we'll be back at Mildred's for coffee, conversation and delicious breakfast sandwiches. There might be an iPhone again. Who knows? See you then.
This Friday is going to be a special, special day. One of the Coffee Morning regulars is going to bring in his newest tech-toy, an iPhone (I bet you thought I was going to say the Zune). That's right, he even said that he'd let us all touch it for a small fee. I don't know about you, but I'll be bringing all the $1 bills I was saving for a bachelor party rainy day.
So please plan on joining us this Friday at Mildred's Coffee House for some good egg sandwiches, excellent coffee and some iPhone molesting. Dustin, you might want to go get the new AppleCare for iPhone before you arrive. Just a word of caution.
I was doing a little research about coffee, coffee drinking, coffee consumption, coffee buying, coffee making, coffee beans, coffee cakes, coffee toffee... you get the picture. The results were mystifying, just take a look at the charts. There are upward trends, downward trends and some that are just stagnant. Basically, these charts tell us that attendance is down. Boo.
This week, we'll be at JP Wine Bar again, for those of you that haven't seen the remodeling job. Starting at 7:30, we'll be drinking coffee and talking about coffee grinds, coffee cups, coffee tables... bah, not really. See you there.
This Friday, starting at 7:30 AM, we'll be back at one of our favorite Crossroads coffee spots, JP Wine Bar. The construction work that has kept us away for a short time is complete. Come have a cup of coffee and check out the new expansion at JP. See you then.
Posting this a day early for those of you who will be around on Friday for Coffee Morning. Nothing too outlandish this week, just the normal, "we'll be at Mildred's Coffee this Friday morning at 7:30," post. We hope to see you there. We can talk about fireworks and coffee. Or maybe Sesame Street. I'll even talk about the Transformers movie with any nerds out there.
See, nothing creative about that at all. Sometimes the most creative things aren't all that elaborate. It'd be like me taking a photo of something I love and integrating with something else I love. You know what I mean? If only I had the means, or the ideas, of putting two such things together.
Andrew and I decided that this Friday's Coffee Morning will be at Mildred's -- a place that we're quickly growing accustomed to. I decided to peruse Google Images to see if there were any photos that could help everyone recognize the place if you weren't sure what the coffee shop looked for.
The picture to the right is the first image that comes up when Image-Googling the term ‘mildred.’ That's not it. Image-Googling the term ‘mildred's’ doesn't get us any closer. Nor does ‘mildred's coffee kansas city.’ Looks like fourth times the charm since ‘mildred's coffee house’ gave us a winning photo.
Again, we'll be at Mildred's this Friday starting at 7:30 (Mildred, or her coconuts, won't be in attendance). Here's the Coffee Morning Map to help you find the location. And don't forget to sign your phone up for Coffee Morning text messages. They're super cool.
The Brazilian is gone! Long live the Brazilian!
Yeah I know that made zero sense, but that's my steez. Anyway, Bruno is gone to the Windy City and has already forgotten us losers in the lowly Cow Town. That's fine, to retaliate, we'll just go to a new coffee morning locale – one that was super close to where he used to dwell. That'll teach him not to mess with us ever again. Right? Who's with me?
This Friday morning, please join us at City Market Coffeehouse (map) for coffee, breakfast treats and some good ol', All-American conversation. Seriously, if anyone brings up the Brazilian soccer team, I'll douse you with hot coffee. See you there.
I know, I know, Coffee Morning is about conversation and a nice morning coffee drink. But, have you tried the breakfast sandwiches at Mildred's Coffee in the Crossroads? They're delish. The breakfast quiche isn't bad either. Since we had such a delicious experience last week, we'll be there again this Friday starting at 7:30. It's located on the corner of 19th and Wyandotte. See you then.
Here are a few pictures from last week:
Eureka! A post about Coffee Morning TWO FULL DAYS (give or take a few hours) before Friday? That's amazing, isn't it? Yes, yes it is. The reason for the early post is because this week we've decided that we need to branch out from our normal routine. We usually wind up going over to JP Wine Bar to enjoy our joe. But that's been our spot for 95% of the time. Let's go somewhere different.
This week we'll be meeting up at Mildred's Coffee at the corner of 19th and Wyandotte. The windows inside face the West, so we won't be squinting, which is a nice thing. The start time is the same, 7:30. See you there.
Also, I've created us a little My Google Map showcasing all of the coffee spots we go to. Hopefully, in the future (where people made of heavy metal drink Brasso), we'll be able to fill our map up with many more hot spots.
Last week's Coffee Morning was very chill. So chill, in fact, that there were only three of us there. Coffee drinkers of the world, this is unacceptable! You have no excuse for NOT being there – unless you were out late the night before competing in the KC Ad Club's Ad Wars (guess who won - hint, they weren't wearing woolen sweaters). Even then, coffee does some good to a hangover (if that's what you had).
Never you mind last week. That's old news. Because one week in the ad world is equivalent to seven weeks in the real world. So let's get back on track tomorrow with some good conversation and coffees. We'll be in our lounge area inside of JP Wine Bar around 7:30. Hope to see you there.
Join us for coffee morning tomorrow morning at JP Wine Bar. We'll be at our normal corner spot from 7:30 to 8:30. See you then.
Whoops! We forgot to post something yesterday about tomorrow's Coffee Morning. Sorry about that. Even though it'll be at the same place (JP Wine Bar at 7:30 in the a.m.), we've realized that we need a new component for Coffee Morning for those that don't check AC all the time.
Now, with the help of some crazy technology, if you have a cell phone that's capable of sending/receiving text messages (points finger at Andrew and laughs), you can subscribe to Coffee Morning Text Messages*. All you have to do is text the word "coffeemorning" to 41411 and you'll receive a message back almost instantaneously. Then, just reply to that message with a "y" and you'll be signed up. In the future, when I send out a text message to the text list, you'll get it on your phone and you'll think to yourself, "I'm a cool person." Not only that, as a subscriber I think YOU can post messages to the list. Amazing.
If you don't have a phone that can send/receive text messages (still pointing and laughing at Andrew), you can follow along at the Coffee Morning Text page -- we try to not let technology hold us down (unless you're into that kind of thing).
See you tomorrow morning.
* Standard text messaging charges will apply. Check with your wireless carrier regarding the cost of sending and receiving text messages from your phone.
I recently went and talked to a college class at my alma mater about some trends in online advertising. While there, I was treated to my first cup of coffee. I kid you not, my first cup of coffee. It was a nice Chai Latte. Since then, I've purchased several Chai Lattes in various coffee shops and am loving it.
But wait... several people have said that a Chai Latte isn't coffee at all. Chai is really just another name for tea. The word Latte, at it's origin, means milk. So it appeared that I was drinking a hot milky tea. More recently, however, a Latte has been defined as having about one-third espresso, with steamed milk added, and holding about one centimeter of froth exhibiting latte art. I say that if my Chai Latte has espresso in it, then it's a coffee.
Agree, or disagree, let's duke it out at Coffee Morning this Friday at JP Wine Bar. We'll be there at 7:30. And yes, they have regular coffee, too.
Dear Next Door Neighbor,
When I got home last night, I could tell that you had some friends over and were having a good time. Even when I went to bed around 11:30, it was okay that you were playing music louder than a normal level. After being repeatedly awoken by said music for the next hour, it was still okay since it wasn't too late. But when I laid awake from 3:30 AM to 4:30 AM, trying to figure out what song you were playing, it became annoying. Even more so when I tried banging on your door hoping you would stop, to no avail. You must have had some night!
But I'm willing to forgive you, as we've all had Tuesday nights like that -- or, at least, similar to. So let's bury the hatchet, whaddya say? Meet me and my friends for coffee this Friday morning at JP Wine Bar. We'll get there around 7:30 AM. In fact, bring a friend, if you'd like. The more, the merrier -- and the more business ol' JP will enjoy.
Hope to see you there,
-sg
Avoid refilling the office coffee pot on Friday morning. Join us at JP Wine Bar this Friday for Coffee Morning at 7:30.
It happens to me almost every day. Sometimes, even four to five times. I'll be sitting here at my computer, reading an email when I think of something I need to do. Then, instantaneously, it's gone. Vanished. Probably to the same place where single socks go. I know we've talked about it before, but scientists have demonstrated that caffeine modulates short-term working memory.
So I've decided to really think about starting to drink coffee. It's not a for sure thing, but it's on my radar of things to think about. Wait, what was I just saying?
We'll be drinking coffee and stimulating our, um, short-term memories this Friday morning at JP Wine Bar. The beginning time is 7:30. See you there, if you remember.
In New York City, it is customary to order your coffee Black, Light, Extra-Light, or Black-and-Sweet. However, coffee with milk and sugar is a "Regular Coffee." Weird huh?
We'll be back at our usual stomping ground this Friday -- JP Wine Bar -- at 7:30 am for coffee, lemon poppy seed bread and over-sized cinnamon rolls. This week, we're issuing a challenge -- bring someone new to Coffee Morning. See you there.
It's almost that time of week again -- yes, time for coffee (morning). We've been at JP Wine Bar for the past several weeks now, and we think it's time for a new venue. So why not celebrate the opening of MAC: Magazines and Coffee, one of the the Crossroads' newest residents. MAC is located at 1722 Main Street (right next door to Souperman) and that's where we'll be this Friday morning from 7:30 - 8:30. Come check it out! With us! Talk advertising! And drink coffee! Too!
See you there.
Coffee Morning will be at JP Wine Bar once again this week. We may explore other venues in the weeks to come, but for now we'll stick with JP. See you tomorrow morning at 7:30.
Are we having Coffee Moring or not? The answer is, of course, yes. Coffee Morning will be at our usual place, JP Wine Bar from 7:30 to 8:30.
Things you might not know about coffee:
This Friday join us for some intellectual lubrication at JP Wine Bar from 7:30-8:30.
Coffee facts via Strategy Magazine
According to Dr. Duke's Phytochemical Database, unroasted, green coffee seeds contain the following soluble compounds:
2,3,5-TRIMETHYLPHENOL, 2-ETHYLPHENOL, 2-METHOXY-4-ETHYLPHENOL, 2,4-METHYLENEPHENOL, DICAFFEOYL-QUINIC ACID, 4-ETHYLPHENOL, 4-METHOXY-4-VINYLPHENOL, ACETALDEHYDE, CAFFEINE (duh), CAFFEOL, CAFFEOYL-3-QUINIC ACID, CAFFETANNIC ACID, CHLOROGENIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, DATURIC ACID, GUAIACOL, HYPOXANTHINE, ISOCHLOROGENIC ACID, PUTRESCINE, SCOPOLETIN, SPERMIDINE, SPERMINE, SUGARS, TANNIC ACID, TANNIN, THEOBROMINE, THEOPHYLLINE, THIAMIN, TRIGONELLINE, and XANTHINE.
Anyone notice the absence of truffles mentioned in that list? I did. The reason is that those green coffee seeds weren't grown at our usual hangout for coffee morning, JP Wine Bar, where we were treated with six truffles for our oft-repeated business on Friday mornings.
Come join us this Friday morning at JP Wine Bar (7:30 in the a.m.), have some interesting conversation and drink some tasty coffee (it's got 4-Methoxy-4-Vinylphenol for heaven's sake). I'm not promising that you'll get a truffle, but you'll get a good kick start to your day.

As the ASCII Art suggests (stolen from The Coffee Cantata), it's almost time for another morning of coffee (or hot chocolate, soup, oatmeal, etc.). JP's Wine Bar has quickly become our mainstay and we'll be chillin' there once again this Friday. Topics that we'll cover*:
Please come join us for stimulating coffee and a cup of conversation.
*We probably won't talk about any of these.

What a crowd last week! While the Oklahoma State Advertising Club was paying a visit to Barkley last week, Jeremy mentioned that they should stop by Coffee Morning to visit with some local ad folks. Boy did they listen. On top of having a standout crowd, we had the pleasure of visiting with students about their ad interests and share some of our own ad wisdom and advice.
Here's some photos of the crowd...
We'll be at JP Wine Bar once again tomorrow morning from 7:30-8:30. After last week, no one really knows what to expect. I'm sure there will be plenty of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Lite Brite discussion.

Coffee morning time.
Tons of side-splitting humor.
Oh, and coffee, too.
Advertising talk.
Pop culture references.
Sometimes breakfast food.
Come join us this week.
We'll be at JP Wine Bar.
Same place as last week.
See you on Friday.
Don't forget, JP Wine Bar.
7:30. Sharp.
Here's a few pictures from last Friday's Coffee Morning:
Kevin was able to join us since he happened to be in town. Andy came too.
Here's the whole group. Great turnout.

Jeremy stopped in.
Another great coffee morning. Lots of laughs and interesting
conversation. Thanks to everyone that attended. It wouldn't have been the same without you. Seriously.
Do you really meet up at 7:30?
Yes, yes we do. Well, some of us are there at 7:30... don't feel like you HAVE to be there on time -- but know that you'll miss out on some good stuff if you aren't.
What do you talk about?
Anything and everything. It's not an Ad-Industry-only kind of thing. Have good stew the night before? Wish you could compete for World's Strongest Man? Really dislike the new Subway ads? It's all game here.
Is drinking coffee required?
No. But it should be mentioned that coffee is a wonderful antioxident and it enhances short-term memory.
Is talking required?
No. Morning grumps are welcome. But we may point and laugh at you. We'll also take a photo of you, too.
Where is it at this week?
This Friday we'll be at JP Wine Bar at 16th and Walnut in the Crossroads District. C'mon down, we'll have a jolly time.
KC Coffee Morning will be at Coffee Girls once again tomorrow morning. Since winter's rath was layed upon the KC area last week, we've got some catching up to do. Come join in the conversation from 7:30-8:30. See you then.
UPDATE: Like everyone else in this city, we're scared of the snow that is falling this afternoon and will keep falling overnight. So NO Coffee Morning tomorrow -- see you guys next week, stay warm, drive safe, etc. (and yes, I can hear blog visitors from Minneapolis mocking us).
Russell Davies sort of explained Coffee Morning last week: "you don't have to be a planner, or work in anything like advertising or 'digital', you won't be expected to talk about brands. It's just chatting about whatever comes up. It's nice."
It is. We'll be at Coffee Girls (map) once again this Friday at 7:30am. Come on down, and be part of this worldwide revolution. Or something.
Yeah, Andrew and I messed up and didn't get the word out before Thursday afternoon. Still, our SHSers were joined by Ariel and K-Fad last Friday for another Coffee Morning in KC.

Here's Bruno, Andrew, and Ariel, listening to...

...John, Kevin, and Seth's engrossing conversation.

Ariel doesn't let anyone tell her what to do: you can all drink your coffee, she'll get a smoothie instead.
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, we're not having coffee morning this week -- but mark your calendars for next week. In the meantime, enjoy your Black Friday.
Andrew, Seth and I will be at Coffee Girls (map) once again this Friday, from about 7:30 to 8:30, waiting for you and the interesting conversation you always bring with you wherever you go. Yes. We've heard all about it. And we'll be waiting.
Scroll down to see how last week's Coffee Morning went, and check out Russell Davies' blog to see where it all began.
Then join us, will you?
It's safe to say that the first KC coffee morning was a success. There was a great mix of people with interesting insight and great stories to share.
Pictured here is American Copywriter's own John January talking with Ariel, and Bruno chatting with Christi. My wife Chelsea came by for a quick cup before heading off to work, and Seth also came by a little later.
Many thanks to all that attended. Stay tuned to American Copywriter for information about this week's KC Coffee Morning.
What a simple idea. Since Russell Davies introduced Coffee Mornings, the idea has spread to all parts of the world. Well, why not bring Coffee Morning to KC?
This Friday, and hopefully many Fridays to come, Bruno (creative) and I (Andrew/account planner) are going to meet for a cup or two of coffee, share ideas and see what we can learn from one another. We invite all people (bloggers, creatives, planners, strategists, new marketers, whoever) to have a cup and join in.
Everyone enjoys the bits of conversation before and after a meeting. That's what Coffee Morning is all about. Forget about all the worky stuff. Bruno and I will be at Coffee Girls this Friday from 7:30ish-8:30ish. Look for the Brazilian and the really tall guy with wire rimmed glasses sitting across from one another. We'd love to chat.
