I agree, the Super Bowl is absolutely over. The new showcase for advertising is clearly the Olympics. I agree there as well, the Olympics ads are top notch without going overboard and pandering to, frankly, the Bud Light demographic (ie, frat boys who never grew up).

And once again, I agree with your assessment that the American Faterh-as-total-idiot motif has gone too far. This is well entrenched in our culture (thanks to Ralph Cramden, Homer Simpson, etc.) but in advertising I find it infuriating. Are there no capable bachelors left in the world? The ones who can cook a dinner without ripping a hole in the fabric of space-time?

Thanks guys, for saying on a podcast what I've been ranting about for months.

I finally caught up with the new episode. Couldn't agree more about the P&G spots, but you failed to give props to Wieden+Kennedy. What up with that?
